Responsibilities
- Design, develop, execute, and troubleshoot test procedures for firmware features, applications, and embedded subsystems.
- Review and refine engineering requirements for test needs and support peer reviews of test designs and automation.
- Execute test plans to validate firmware requirements and support on-time delivery of firmware components.
- Conduct experiments and simulations, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions.
- Support continuous improvement of test development and use task-tracking processes to maintain schedules.
- Schedule, facilitate, and document technical meetings and formal presentations.
- Collaborate with hardware design, software, and Agile teams throughout product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with testing, embedded systems, and/or PCBA design.
- Experience with National Instruments hardware, TestStand, and LabVIEW for automated testing.
- Ability to read schematics and component data sheets and understand basic digital circuits and firmware-electronics interaction.
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition systems, multimeters, and power analyzers.
- Knowledge of and some experience participating in the software development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with software configuration management, requirements management, defect tracking, and peer-review tools.
- Exposure to DevOps and continuous integration/continuous deployment.
- Strong problem-solving, independent-judgment, organization, communication, and process-oriented skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
- Preferred: experience with Python or C/C++, unit testing, structural testing, bare-metal firmware, cross-functional collaboration, and relevant experience outside an academic setting.
