Embedded Design Engineering Intern – Firmware

Base Salary

$48k - $87k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design embedded software and firmware.
  • Perform HDL simulations and software unit tests.
  • Conduct hands-on laboratory testing with instrumentation, test equipment, and debugging methods.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Work with FPGAs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, and mixed-signal designs.
  • Participate in product lifecycle activities from concept development and detailed design through manufacturing, integration, testing, and post-delivery support.
  • Gain experience with DSP design, PCB design, technical trade studies, and technology evaluations.

Requirements

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Have experience with C, C++, or Rust embedded software programming through coursework, laboratory projects, or previous internships.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Include a resume and unofficial transcripts with the application.
  • Be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with Xilinx FPGA and SoC families, RFSoC, Xilinx IP Cores, AXI4, AXI-Stream, VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, assembly, simulation and test frameworks, processor architectures, memory and caching, GNU/Linux, kernel drivers, communication protocols, embedded operating systems, electronics and PCBA design, and technical leadership involving budgeting and scheduling.
