Responsibilities

  • Act as a principal technical advisor to senior leadership and shape technology decisions across multiple business lines and the enterprise.
  • Define and evolve enterprise-scale architectures for Java-based platforms and AI/GenAI solutions.
  • Design, review, and occasionally code critical components while setting a high engineering standard.
  • Drive the strategy, adoption, governance, and responsible implementation of AI and GenAI capabilities.
  • Identify high-value AI use cases and guide teams from proof of concept to production at scale.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into scalable, resilient, future-ready technical solutions and define technology roadmaps.
  • Influence architecture and engineering standards across global, matrixed organizations without direct authority.
  • Mentor senior engineers and architects and promote engineering excellence, modernization, platform thinking, and continuous learning.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and vendor offerings, bring relevant external ideas into the enterprise, and balance innovation with operational stability and risk management.
  • Measure technology success through business outcomes including time to market, developer productivity, system resilience, and customer results.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Deep hands-on engineering expertise with sustained design and development experience in Java, modern JVM stacks, distributed systems, and performance engineering.
  • Experience architecting and building AI-powered solutions involving LLM integration, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, model orchestration, AI pipelines, and responsible AI practices.
  • Strong background in cloud-native architectures and operating systems at enterprise scale.
  • Ability to serve as a technical authority across application, data, AI, platform, and security domains and influence enterprise architecture and engineering standards.
  • Experience defining long-term technology strategy, reference architectures, and engineering roadmaps aligned with business outcomes.
  • Understanding of GenAI trends, ecosystem evolution, emerging capabilities, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Experience embedding AI into business workflows and guiding solutions toward productivity, risk reduction, customer experience, and operational improvements.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to executives, regulators, partners, and engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority, challenge assumptions constructively, and serve as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Awareness of industry best practices, competitive landscapes, and fintech or financial services technology trends.
  • Active engagement with external communities, conferences, forums, thought leadership, or standards bodies is highly desirable.
