Software Engineer Intern - Industrialization

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and help deploy Python-based automated test procedures for ANYmal hardware subsystems.
  • Instrument and control hardware devices, sensors, and cameras through software interfaces.
  • Collaborate with test technicians and manufacturing engineers to refine shopfloor testing workflows.
  • Write clean, resilient, and reproducible code using established software engineering practices.
  • Create test documentation and technician procedures for shopfloor execution.

Requirements

  • Be currently enrolled in or recently have completed a BSc or MSc in Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have a solid Python programming foundation and experience building projects that interact with hardware, sensors, or external APIs.
  • Have practical hands-on experience with hardware interfaces through university labs, student projects, or personal builds.
  • Demonstrate structured problem-solving and interest in measurement fundamentals such as tolerances and repeatability.
  • Have clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts and draft structured procedures.
  • Be based in or willing to relocate to Zurich and able to maintain regular onsite presence.
  • Experience with ROS or ROS2, OpenCV-based image processing or computer vision, sensor calibration, Docker, or devcontainer environments is preferred.
  • Experience in student engineering teams such as Formula Student, Swissloop, or ARIS Rocketry, particularly in testing or integration, is preferred.
