Responsibilities
- Define and review product and platform architecture across multiple AdServer teams.
- Own the multi-quarter technical direction and roadmap for the CTV AdServer platform.
- Lead the design and evolution of scalable, reliable, low-latency distributed backend platforms and services.
- Document architectural decisions, exceptions, trade-offs, and reusable standards through ADRs.
- Research emerging technologies, sponsor proof-of-concepts, and make build-or-adopt recommendations.
- Audit major architecture changes, act as a technical escalation point, and resolve complex cross-team problems.
- Partner with Data Center, DevOps, engineering, and product leaders on technology adoption, optimization, and stability planning.
- Mentor Principal Engineers, Senior Principal Engineers, and other senior individual contributors through design reviews and technical guidance.
- Champion engineering quality, documentation, and architectural standards across teams.
- Drive the use of generative AI throughout software design, coding, testing, documentation, and debugging.
Requirements
- 14+ years of hands-on development experience with C/C++ in Linux/UNIX environments.
- Demonstrated experience defining architecture and technical direction across multiple teams or an entire platform.
- Experience shipping and evolving large-scale distributed systems and designing complex, scalable, low-latency, high-throughput software.
- Deep proficiency in algorithms, advanced data structures, operating-system internals, multithreading, multiprocessing, and memory management.
- Ability to identify architectural risks, develop alternatives, write architectural decision records, and communicate trade-offs clearly.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to solve open-ended technical problems and troubleshoot difficult production issues.
- Ability to write clean, modular, loosely coupled code and perform high-quality code and design reviews.
- Strong end-to-end understanding of platform functionality and experience influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Working knowledge of Go, Perl, Python, Shell scripting, and MySQL is preferred.
- Working knowledge of generative AI tools, IDEs, prompt engineering fundamentals, and different model types.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent degree; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Preferred experience includes CTV/OTT ad serving, ad decisioning, real-time bidding, VAST, VPAID, VMAP, SSAI, CSAI, HLS, DASH, IAB CTV/OTT specifications, streaming platforms, smart TV operating systems, CTV measurement, and privacy and identity systems.
