Responsibilities
- Partner with internal non-engineering teams to clarify ambiguous problems and identify effective AI workflows.
- Build and iterate on AI-powered skills, workflows, and tool-using agents for non-technical users.
- Choose appropriate tools and deployment approaches while evaluating cost, speed, latency, security, and maintainability tradeoffs.
- Connect front-end tools with backend, API, and infrastructure components.
- Debug failures in production and resolve issues affecting real users.
- Track workflows after launch and ensure outcomes are measurable and maintainable.
- Share reusable patterns and lessons with the engineering pod.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to write correct, working code independently.
- Working knowledge of prompting, context engineering, MCP tool/function calling, and modern AI/LLM tooling such as Claude.
- A non-trivial working AI/LLM project and a track record of shipping software end-to-end through a personal, academic, or internship project.
- Ability to independently break down ambiguous, unscoped problems and drive solutions without a detailed specification.
- Basic understanding of cost, latency, and security tradeoffs in system design.
- Full-stack literacy across front-end, backend/API, and data layers.
- Some experience debugging failures in running systems rather than only local testing.
- Experience building and deploying agentic workflows or tool-using agents, beyond single-shot prompting.
- Preferred qualifications include maintaining a live system, exposure to multiple languages or stacks, and early product sense for explaining technical tradeoffs to non-engineers.
Benefits
- Preferred availability is full-time from October 2026 through June 2027; alternatives include part-time October–December 2026 followed by full-time January–June 2027, or full-time January–June 2027.
- The role is an internship within Carousell Group’s AI Adoption Pod.
