Responsibilities
- Design and build trading and market-data APIs using REST, streaming, and FIX.
- Modernize FIX session handling, market-data distribution, and order-flow systems.
- Solve resilience, failure recovery, latency, throughput, and correctness challenges in real-time distributed trading systems.
- Own services end to end, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production behavior.
- Use observability data to identify and improve latency, throughput, and reliability issues.
- Work with FIX Support, dealing desks, and client-facing teams to diagnose live production issues.
- Contribute to spec-driven and AI-assisted development practices and raise engineering standards through testing, documentation, and design review.
Requirements
- Substantial commercial experience building backend systems in Java and owning production services and architectural decisions.
- Strong command of concurrency and multithreading, including reasoning about failure modes and correctness under load.
- Practical experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems, including streaming, messaging, or queueing.
- Hands-on experience with the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot.
- Experience designing and operating externally facing APIs without breaking client contracts.
- Cloud experience, ideally with AWS.
- Linux proficiency, including shell scripting.
- Ability to investigate production issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Clear communication skills for explaining technical constraints to client-facing teams and business stakeholders.
