Responsibilities
- Improve card transaction experiences by reducing declines, failed authorizations, stuck holds, and other spending friction.
- Identify product issues affecting real users, propose fixes, and ship improvements.
- Investigate card testing, cashback farming, merchant abuse, friendly fraud, trial and force-post abuse, and multi-account rings.
- Own fraud rules, queues, scoring logic, real-time monitoring, alerting, and automated mitigation in Sardine.
- Query transaction data, investigate live cases, identify root causes, and create controls to prevent recurrence.
- Build internal tools, dashboards, and scripts for risk and customer experience teams.
- Collaborate with Product, CX, Compliance, card program partners, and fraud vendors.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
- At least 4 years of professional coding experience shipping products.
- Product sense and a focus on resolving the causes of declined transactions.
- Ability to query and analyze data independently rather than relying solely on the codebase or other teams.
- Interest in adversarial problems and the ability to identify and explain suspicious transaction patterns.
