Base Salary
$203k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for scalable data pipelines and data-serving platforms.
- Design and build high-performance systems for financial-data ingestion, transformation, serving, and consumption.
- Create shared frameworks and platforms that enable AI applications and agents to access trusted data.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to identify, validate, and deliver AI-enabled improvements.
- Lead cross-team initiatives from design through rollout and ongoing operation.
- Establish standards for data quality, observability, recovery, and sensitive-data access controls.
- Improve query performance, platform reliability, and infrastructure efficiency while resolving production issues.
- Advance effective and accountable use of AI in software development.
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise engineering standards through hands-on technical guidance.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience leading complex platform or distributed-systems initiatives across teams.
- Strong proficiency in Python or Java, strong SQL skills, and experience designing, debugging, and operating production systems.
- Deep experience with databases, data warehouses, ETL or ELT pipelines, data modeling, query optimization, and batch versus real-time processing.
- Experience with large-scale offline processing and batch pipelines using Spark or similar frameworks, including failure recovery and performance tuning.
- Experience designing and operating cloud services, especially AWS, with working knowledge of Kubernetes, deployment practices, and observability.
- Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code and sound judgment about their limitations.
- Experience setting architectural direction, writing technical proposals, building alignment, mentoring engineers, and making pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions.
- Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred: production experience with Snowflake, Airflow, or dbt.
- Preferred: experience building and operating AI applications, agent frameworks, or governed data-access services with evaluation and monitoring.
- Preferred: financial-services data experience or work in environments requiring high data accuracy, privacy, and reliability.
