Responsibilities
- Package PostgreSQL software in the supabase/postgres repository using Nix and flakes.
- Manage PostgreSQL lifecycles, including major, minor, and extension upgrades.
- Expand platform release systems to increase developer self-service.
- Improve GitHub Actions, team tooling, CI/CD, testing, and release approaches.
- Identify and resolve production issues affecting customer deployments.
- Maintain testing and engineering practices that improve stability and reduce deployment risk.
- Mentor engineers on using and contributing to the Nix-based tooling.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience with PostgreSQL and its ecosystem, including extensions and performance optimization.
- Proven infrastructure expertise in management, tooling, and optimization.
- Proficiency with Nix and flakes, Ansible, Packer, Docker, QEMU/KVM, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Experience building for multiple architectures, including Linux and Darwin/macOS aarch64 targets.
- Comfort working in polyglot environments involving C/C++, Go, JavaScript, and Rust-based projects.
- Clear communication across technical and non-technical audiences, including customers.
- Experience working in asynchronous or globally distributed teams and demonstrated independent problem-solving.
- Willingness to mentor and teach the engineering team about Nix-based work.
