Responsibilities
- Develop and test new product features for next-generation sports medicine products.
- Work with a small team of Electrical and Software Engineers on research and development activities.
- Collaborate with managers to complete specifically identified internship projects.
- Present project conclusions to senior leadership.
- Create documentation required by the Smith+Nephew Quality Management System.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate Engineering program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science at an accredited university.
- Be at least a junior and have completed Basic Electrical Engineering and/or programming courses.
- A major GPA of 3.50 or above is preferred.
- Previous applicable internship, part-time, or apprenticeship experience is preferred.
- School projects involving embedded systems, C/C++, and/or FPGA are preferred.
- Have design experience with electrical and/or software engineering concepts and basic understanding of testing electrical or software designs.
- Exposure to computer vision concepts, applications, or academic projects is preferred.
- Interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for engineering or medical technology applications is preferred.
- Familiarity with image signal processing fundamentals, including image enhancement, analysis, or algorithm development, is preferred.
- Experience in the medical device field or another regulated field is preferred.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, technical writing, analytical problem-solving, learning agility, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
