Responsibilities
- Build, test, and deploy high-volume, low-latency Java applications for global payment systems.
- Design resilient, scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant services in collaboration with Data and Platform engineering teams.
- Integrate multiple Adyen systems and define unified architectures for next-generation payment features.
- Drive engineering best practices, contribute to architecture designs, and participate in product roadmap discussions.
- Define and monitor performance KPIs to identify and eliminate system bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with global product managers and engineers and occasionally work directly with merchants.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience delivering backend services using Core Java, web services, and SQL/PostgreSQL.
- Proven technical leadership and experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong understanding of high availability, fault tolerance, low latency, and scalable architecture.
- Expertise with modern API frameworks such as REST and OpenAPI, including API security and developer experience best practices.
- Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and alternatives and present findings in architectural reviews.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a customer-centric approach.
