Base Salary

$92k - $171k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services.
  • Architect and maintain Docker-based development and runtime environments.
  • Guide deployments using Docker Swarm and related tooling.
  • Define and promote coding, testing, code review, and other engineering best practices.
  • Participate in and facilitate Agile planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Use Jira for backlog and sprint management and Confluence for technical documentation.
  • Use GitLab for source control, code reviews, and CI/CD integration.
  • Collaborate with product owners, QA, and DevOps to deliver reliable features.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance and feedback.
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence technical direction.

Requirements

  • Level 2: bachelor’s degree in science with 2+ years of software development experience, 0+ years with a master’s degree, or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Level 3: bachelor’s degree in science with 5+ years of software development experience, 3+ years with a master’s degree, or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility at the time of application.
  • Significant professional Software Engineer experience and experience working in Linux environments.
  • Strong Python proficiency and experience building production-grade services.
  • Hands-on Docker experience, including Dockerfiles, image builds, local development, and best practices.
  • Experience with GitLab repositories, merge requests, code reviews, and basic CI pipelines.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle practices, Agile collaboration, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Practical Jira and Confluence experience in a team setting.
  • Experience with Rust and/or C++ for performance-critical components.
  • Preferred: relational database schema design, SQL, indexing, performance tuning, PostgreSQL, Docker Swarm or similar orchestration, Scrum Master experience or certification, and Python CI/CD integration.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for positions with government clearance.
