Responsibilities

Lead the architecture and development of security tools and infrastructure.
Collaborate with Product Security Engineers and Software Engineers to implement security features in AWS.
Drive alignment on security and privacy initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
Support security detection and response efforts through automation and investigations.
Research and advocate for new security tools to meet Benchling's needs.
Define processes for data mining, modeling, and production in security engineering.
Mentor Security Engineers, providing technical guidance and career development.
Identify and resolve long-term security program challenges.

6+ years of experience in Security Engineering or a related role.
Deep expertise in security engineering and AWS cloud infrastructure.
Strong software engineering skills for designing maintainable systems.
Experience with modern infrastructure technologies like Docker and Terraform.
Proven ability to manage multi-quarter initiatives with minimal guidance.
Demonstrated mentorship experience with junior engineers.
Strong communication skills for influencing technical and non-technical audiences.
Understanding of security trade-offs and prioritizations across the organization.
