Responsibilities
- Build and optimize production ML systems for document classification and extraction.
- Develop training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines for LLM models.
- Optimize GPU inference for real-time extraction and improve model accuracy through labeling workflows.
- Lead technical design from RFC through implementation and production deployment.
- Own system performance, scalability, reliability, observability, technical debt, and release planning.
- Lead RFCs, review critical code, and uphold quality through testing and documentation.
- Mentor engineers through pair programming, technical guidance, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Coordinate cross-cutting technical solutions across teams and organizational boundaries.
- Partner with Product and cross-functional teams to prioritize features and deliver commitments.
Requirements
- Strong experience building, deploying, and operating complex production systems at scale.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs or ML systems in production, including fine-tuning, inference pipelines, latency or cost optimization, or model evaluation.
- Experience with ML frameworks or inference technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Triton.
- Deep expertise in at least one area such as ML infrastructure, backend systems, or performance optimization, with broad software engineering knowledge.
- Experience taking complex projects from idea through design, implementation, and production with minimal oversight.
- Production service development experience in Python and comfort with cloud infrastructure.
- Strong technical judgment, initiative, pragmatic problem-solving, and ability to make architecture and scalability tradeoffs.
- Experience mentoring engineers, conducting constructive code reviews, and collaborating across teams.
- Experience with Ruby, TypeScript, AWS, and Kubernetes is relevant to the stated technology stack.
