Responsibilities
- Drive the development of automation and GitOps as an embedded tech lead.
- Collaborate with the IS architect to align solutions with the IS architecture vision.
- Design and architect services that IS can offer as products.
- Develop infrastructure as code practices to increase automation.
- Automate software operations for consistency across private and public clouds.
- Maintain operational responsibility for Canonical’s core services and infrastructure.
- Set up and maintain observability tools and monitoring for systems.
- Assist and collaborate with globally distributed engineering and operations teams.
- Focus on larger projects and automation of manual tasks.
- Share experience and best practices with team members.
- Handle time-critical escalations.
Requirements
- Modern view on hosting architecture driven by infrastructure as code.
- Product mindset focused on developing products rather than solutions.
- Python software development experience with large projects.
- Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems.
- Proven experience managing and deploying cloud infrastructure with code.
- Practical knowledge of Linux networking, routing, and firewalls.
- Affinity with various forms of Linux storage.
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud computing concepts and technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
- Clear communication skills in English.
- Motivated to troubleshoot and learn new things quickly.
- Ability to work flexibly in fast-changing environments.
- Passionate about open-source, especially Ubuntu or Debian.
