Responsibilities
- Contribute to daily platform engineering work for TomTom’s map-making platform.
- Improve the performance and reliability of map-data quality checks by profiling rules and optimizing queries and logic.
- Investigate issues using logs, metrics, and dashboards, and document findings in tickets.
- Run builds, identify failed pipeline stages, and fix simple pipeline or configuration issues.
- Write clean, tested Java code with JUnit unit tests and participate in code reviews.
- Measure runtimes and failure counts and communicate results in tables or charts.
- Use AI coding agents and MCP tools for coding, analysis, and documentation.
Requirements
- Currently studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming experience in at least one language, ideally Java.
- Basic understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Basic SQL knowledge and understanding of relational databases.
- Familiarity with Git and unit, functional, and regression testing concepts.
- Hands-on use of AI tools for coding or research, with the ability to verify their output.
- Good English, curiosity, and openness to feedback.
- Nice-to-have experience with Spring Boot, Maven, JUnit, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Python, AI coding agents, or MCP clients.
- Interest in maps, geospatial data, or performance tuning.
