Responsibilities
- Independently perform complex application and web development for large and highly complex projects.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and scale software systems for education technology and generative AI research projects.
- Build algorithmic tools using machine learning and natural language processing for rigorous empirical research.
- Lead and collaborate on technically challenging projects involving AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and large-scale experimentation.
- Contribute to randomized controlled trials and other empirical methods evaluating AI-driven interventions.
- Translate theoretical models and experimental designs into high-performance, production-ready systems.
- Build reliable, fair, and high-performance AI systems for education and high-stakes government environments.
- Co-author or contribute to academic publications and technical reports.
- Follow Harvard University IT technical standards, policies, and Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- At least two years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
- At least two years of relevant full-time work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience in computer science, data science, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Strong background in advanced software engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and empirical research methodologies.
- Experience working with generative AI pipelines.
- Experience deploying software in a cloud environment.
- Full-stack development experience with Python and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Svelte and React is preferred.
- Ability to perform effectively on teams, provide service-oriented support, and act as a trusted advisor.
- Applicants must provide a GitHub code sample, a description of the project, and confirmation of authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship for at least two years.
