Responsibilities
- Lead the design, delivery, and production operation of complex cloud-native platform components and services.
- Serve as technical lead for major features and initiatives, translating ambiguous problems into scalable designs.
- Develop Kubernetes operators, controllers, infrastructure automation, and platform services with a hands-on focus on Go.
- Drive technical risk resolution and improve reliability, scalability, operability, observability, and engineering quality.
- Partner with Principal and Distinguished Engineers on platform architecture, standards, and long-term technical strategy.
- Own initiatives end to end from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, and operational support.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and design reviews.
Requirements
- 14+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms in production.
- Demonstrated experience building and operating Kubernetes platform infrastructure at scale through deployment, upgrades, and production operations.
- Hands-on experience developing Kubernetes Operators, Admission Controllers, Custom Resource Definitions, or similar platform extensions using Kubebuilder or Operator Framework.
- Experience operating managed Kubernetes services including EKS, AKS, and GKE, as well as self-managed Kubernetes environments.
- Strong Go software engineering experience and expertise with Kubernetes architecture, orchestration, scheduling, security, storage, networking, and workload management.
- Experience operating stateful and distributed workloads, databases, data services, or other mission-critical platform components on Kubernetes.
- Extensive experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including compute, networking, security, and identity management services.
- Strong background in microservices, event-driven systems, distributed application architectures, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and GitOps practices.
- Experience with Terraform, Crossplane, or equivalent declarative infrastructure tooling.
- Experience implementing observability and reliability practices involving metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting, and service-level objectives.
- Experience integrating AI into engineering and platform work, such as AI-powered tooling, automated operational workflows, agentic systems, or AI-informed infrastructure practices.
- Preferred experience includes container networking, service mesh, mTLS, workload identity, secrets management, observability, and tuning distributed data or compute workloads on Kubernetes.
