Responsibilities
- Create and execute designs for small sets of new software functionality.
- Develop moderately complex software for Garmin products and applications.
- Use configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
- Participate in peer code reviews and provide technical feedback.
- Perform root-cause analysis and define corrective actions.
- Research new technologies, estimate effort, evaluate technology options, and suggest process improvements.
- Provide feedback on some electrical design aspects.
- Mentor less experienced Software Engineer 1 employees.
- Support a rotating on-call schedule for Garmin's 24/7 operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field, plus at least 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent academic performance, generally with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience developing moderately complex software in C, C++, C#, Java, assembly language, or other selected languages.
- Proficiency with relevant software engineering tools, including configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
- Outstanding academics with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 are preferred.
- Previous design work or internship experience, particularly for consumer products, is preferred.
