Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, implementation, and end-to-end production operation of scalable AI-powered applications, agents, retrieval systems, and backend services.
- Design advanced RAG systems and agentic workflows using distributed integrations, REST APIs, MCP, A2A protocols, and event-driven or streaming patterns.
- Ensure production readiness through automated testing, resilience, observability, performance engineering, and resolution of complex cross-service issues.
- Design secure identity and service-to-service integration patterns covering OAuth/OIDC, authentication, authorization, and secrets management.
- Evaluate AI models, frameworks, and protocols; create reusable engineering patterns and guide responsible adoption across SAP Globalization.
- Own critical systems, mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and collaborate with AI scientists, product managers, engineers, and domain experts.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced Python proficiency and strong experience with async backend services, APIs, distributed systems, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Hands-on expertise in LLM applications, advanced RAG, context engineering, tool calling, agentic workflows, and reliable handling of nondeterministic AI outputs.
- Experience delivering AI-powered systems into production and designing cloud-native architectures.
- Technical leadership and mentoring experience, including alignment across product managers, engineers, and domain experts.
- Ability to apply AI usefully and responsibly, ensuring AI-generated outputs are high-quality, safe, and aligned.
- Fluency in English is required.
