Base Salary
$104k - $142k/yr
Responsibilities
- Support and extend altOS, a custom security- and privacy-focused Android distribution.
- Design and build Android applications, operating-system extensions, and Android framework features unavailable to standard applications.
- Collaborate with server developers, application developers, engineers, and other technical teams to define, design, and ship features.
- Compile, modify, install, flash, debug, and port Android ROMs and AOSP-based software to mobile devices.
- Perform product design, bug verification, release testing, and beta projects on a custom Android ROM.
- Evaluate and implement technologies to improve development efficiency.
- Work with Android device-management technologies, including DevicePolicyManager and MDM APIs.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least five years of experience in Android-related product development.
- Experience compiling, modifying, and installing or flashing the Android Open Source Project.
- Experience developing, building, debugging, modifying, or contributing to Linux or a Linux derivative.
- Experience porting Android ROMs to new devices or contributing to open-source distributions such as LineageOS or Paranoid Android.
- Experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, and Git or another source-control system.
- Proficiency in Java, C, and C++; Linux kernel development experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with Android platform architecture, DevicePolicyManager, and MDM APIs.
- Experience with Bash scripting, Makefiles, and Perl or Python.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to change, work across departments, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance; an active clearance is not required at application.
