Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable, resilient frameworks for customer-facing APIs.
- Influence architecture and design decisions across multiple teams and serve as a technical advisor and escalation point.
- Align engineering initiatives with business and organizational priorities.
- Champion code quality, testing, observability, maintainability, and other software engineering best practices.
- Improve developer tooling, documentation, onboarding, and platform adoption.
- Mentor senior engineers and raise the organization’s technical bar through reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
- Use generative AI and AI coding tools to improve developer productivity, workflows, and automation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a staff-level role.
- Strong proficiency in Java or Golang.
- Experience building platforms, frameworks, libraries, or SDKs at scale.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures, Docker, Kubernetes, databases, and caching strategies.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and influencing without direct authority.
- Understanding of AI-native development practices, including automated code generation, AI-driven testing, and human-in-the-loop review systems.
- Proven leadership experience mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Python and Django experience is preferred.
- Experience building scalable external or partner-facing APIs, technical evangelism, and familiarity with API gateways, authentication and authorization patterns, or rate limiting are preferred.
