Responsibilities

Shape the architecture, technology choices, engineering standards, and working practices of a brand-new team.
Build infrastructure and customer-facing features for the identity platform.
Own features end-to-end from design through backend and UI implementation, production, and customer use.
Write modular, extensible, testable, efficient, and secure Scala code for the platform and microservices.
Design and build scalable, latency-sensitive, highly available backend services.
Contribute to the React and TypeScript frontend.
Help expand the platform into data pipelines and large-scale data processing.

At least 5 years of proven experience developing production backend services at scale.
Strong architecture and design skills, including experience building scalable architectures.
Deep hands-on expertise in at least one modern statically typed, high-level language such as Scala, Kotlin, Java, C#, C++, or Go; Scala is a significant advantage.
Experience changing primary programming languages during one’s career and willingness to make Scala the next primary language.
Comfort with functional programming concepts including immutability, algebraic data types, type-driven design, composition, and pure functions.
Willingness and ability to work across the stack, including React and TypeScript UI work.
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and production-ready data modeling.
Experience with cloud environments and containers, including AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, or Docker.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with persistence and effectiveness.
