Responsibilities
- Resolve complex customer problems involving Ubuntu, OpenStack, Ceph, and Kubernetes.
- Act as the final point of escalation for operational troubleshooting and drive issues to resolution through workarounds, guidance, and fixes.
- Debug issues and collaborate with software engineers to produce patches for upstream projects and Ubuntu.
- Maintain close working relationships with field, support, and product engineering teams.
- Participate in upstream communities and team activities to improve processes, tools, and documentation.
- Provide clear, concise technical communication and subject matter expertise.
- Prioritize work and manage time effectively against competing priorities.
- Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
- Work from home and travel internationally for team meetings, events, and conferences.
Requirements
- Professional experience troubleshooting advanced Linux issues.
- Background in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Exceptionally strong experience with Linux, LXD, OpenStack, Ceph, or Kubernetes.
- Strong debugging experience with Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
- Ability to troubleshoot using gdb, pdb, tcpdump, or other tools.
- Familiarity with Git source code repositories and branches.
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and preferably university.
- Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
- Interest in or experience with Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, Python, Go, C, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Debian packaging, and distributed systems.
