Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support NAS file protocol and storage system solutions.
- Analyze and resolve issues across file protocol, file system, and I/O layers.
- Troubleshoot mounting, file sharing, authentication, authorization, caching, failover, and performance problems.
- Debug complex issues across operating system, storage, networking, and protocol layers.
- Perform log, packet, trace, and root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain low-level utilities, tools, and components using C and C++.
- Improve storage and file service performance and reliability.
- Support validation and testing for data integrity, scalability, resiliency, and failover.
- Collaborate with development, QA, and support teams to reproduce issues and drive fixes.
- Build automation and diagnostic tools using scripting languages.
- Document technical findings, troubleshooting steps, and design recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics, or a related field.
- Around 15 years of experience in systems engineering, storage engineering, protocol engineering, or a related field.
- Strong expertise with NAS file protocols including SMB and NFS.
- Deep understanding of file and storage concepts.
- Hands-on C and C++ programming experience.
- Strong knowledge of storage systems and file services.
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems, system calls, file systems, and process/thread behavior.
- Experience with debugging, root cause analysis, and system-level troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals and distributed systems.
- Preferred experience with SMB/CIFS, NFSv3/NFSv4 internals, performance tuning, stress testing, Wireshark, tcpdump, strace, gdb, Python, Shell, or Perl.
- Preferred exposure to cloud or hybrid storage environments and cross-functional product engineering teams.
