Base Salary
$145k - $165k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement ATAK plugins, features, and integrations in Java.
- Lead the full development lifecycle for ATAK-based application solutions.
- Assist with sprint planning, review junior developers' code, mentor engineers, and support their skills development.
- Plan release goals, timelines, and cycles with management.
- Author build instructions, testing instructions, release notes, and other technical documentation.
- Contribute to official TAK repositories, coordinate with external stakeholders, and participate in TAK community initiatives.
- Create UI assets and optimize interfaces for austere and high-intensity environments.
- Apply MAVLink, Link 16, and OMNI protocols to develop secure cross-platform interoperability solutions.
- Evaluate and integrate unmanned aerial systems into TAK workflows.
- Participate in client-facing engagements, gather feedback, and deliver product demonstrations to government, military, and commercial stakeholders.
- Implement secure data handling, network configuration, and user access-control practices.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and operations teams to align TAK capabilities with organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on Java.
- 5+ years of Android development experience, including Android Studio, Android SDK, Gradle, and Jetpack libraries.
- Ability to integrate C++ code into Android applications using the Android NDK and JNI.
- Experience implementing encryption, authentication, and secure communications in restricted environments.
- Background in secure DevOps practices, test automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- High proficiency with Android architecture fundamentals, including the Activity lifecycle, Services, Broadcast Receivers, and Content Providers.
- Customer-facing communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include deep ATAK and TAK ecosystem knowledge, Cursor-On-Target expertise, ATAK/TAK solution development, TAK Product Center experience, defense or tactical UX experience, RTSP and SRT video streaming experience, and knowledge of UAS flight dynamics, sensor feeds, and communications protocols.
