Base Salary
$131k - $164k/yr
Responsibilities
- Evolve the federated GraphQL platform and shared infrastructure for reliability, scalability, security, and developer usability.
- Build reusable libraries, frameworks, and developer tooling that reduce duplicated engineering effort across teams.
- Design and improve authentication, authorization, and API access capabilities for applications and services.
- Operate and improve critical platform services through performance optimization, observability, reliability improvements, and production troubleshooting.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to turn recurring needs into scalable platform capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, engineering standards, and mentorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating production distributed systems.
- Experience as a senior individual contributor or technical lead owning system design and guiding engineering decisions.
- Strong proficiency with GraphQL, including federated GraphQL architectures, and Go for production services.
- Professional experience with Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of authentication and authorization, including OAuth/OIDC, service authentication, RBAC, and relationship-based authorization.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, networking, service reliability, production operations, observability, and production debugging.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience profiling and optimizing services for latency, throughput, CPU, and memory utilization.
- Strong software design skills, including domain-driven design principles, and the ability to independently drive complex technical initiatives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Preferred: experience with GraphQL schema registries or control planes such as Apollo GraphOS, Hive, or Wundergraph.
- Preferred: experience building authorization platforms, policy engines, shared SDKs, frameworks, or internal developer platforms.
- Preferred: experience with Rust or another systems-oriented programming language, language runtimes, concurrency, memory management, networking, OpenTelemetry, or multi-tenant and multi-brand platform architectures.
- Preferred: background in restaurant technology, point-of-sale systems, retail operations, or large-scale digital commerce.
Benefits
- Salary range of $131,100 to $164,300 annually, plus bonus eligibility.
- Final pay is determined based on location, experience, and other job-related factors.
