Responsibilities

  • Translate scientific objectives and constraints into agent instructions, tool inputs, and candidate checks.
  • Build agent workflows that retrieve evidence, propose design steps, explain assumptions, and identify decisions requiring scientific review.
  • Integrate scientific tools, models, calculators, data storage, compute, approvals, and progress-reporting capabilities.
  • Implement candidate generation, filtering, and ranking, and prepare sequences and supporting evidence for experimental testing.
  • Create reference cases, regression checks, and evaluations to compare models and configurations for quality, speed, completion, and cost.
  • Investigate failures in reasoning, tool use, and execution, then improve instructions, context handling, and code.
  • Record references, tool and model versions, parameters, and output locations for reproducibility.
  • Write tested, maintainable code, participate in reviews, and support deployed workflows.

Requirements

  • Experience shipping multi-step agentic workflows with tool integrations and context management.
  • Experience building reusable agent skills or tool interfaces, such as with MCP.
  • Experience writing APIs and data-handling code with automated tests and version control.
  • Experience integrating tools or services and handling invalid inputs, asynchronous execution, and partial failures.
  • Ability to convert examples and failure cases into repeatable evaluations and use results to change agent behavior.
  • Ability to work with domain experts and turn unfamiliar requirements into testable software.
  • Desirable: familiarity with protein design, enzyme engineering, computational biology, or scientific software.
  • Desirable: experience with sequence or structure analysis, molecular modelling, protein-design tools, literature retrieval, evidence-linked reporting, or scientific data formats.
  • Desirable: familiarity with workflow engines, containers, cloud or HPC compute, and data-access controls.

Benefits
