Base Salary
$165k - $330k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own Baseten's end-to-end testing strategy, including standards, testing tiers, and engineering tooling.
- Build and maintain unit, integration, load, and performance testing frameworks.
- Design test infrastructure that provisions realistic dependencies through ephemeral Kubernetes namespaces and containerized services.
- Build resilience and chaos-testing capabilities covering fault injection, network failures, latency, pod and node failures, dependency degradation, and recovery verification.
- Improve test-suite reliability through flake detection, quarantine, test impact analysis, selective execution, and parallelization.
- Reduce end-to-end CI wall time and build observability into the testing layer through coverage reporting, health dashboards, and failure-triage tooling.
- Create project templates and shared libraries that provide new services with complete testing setups.
- Partner with product and infrastructure teams to turn one-off testing solutions into platform capabilities.
- Mentor engineers through code review, documentation, and internal advocacy.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Go and/or Python, with hands-on experience building test tooling and libraries used by other engineers.
- Deep experience with testing frameworks and their internals, including pytest, Go's testing package, testify, testcontainers, or equivalent tools.
- Experience designing integration-test infrastructure for distributed systems, including ephemeral environment provisioning and dependency management.
- Practical experience with load and performance testing tools such as k6, Locust, Vegeta, JMeter, or Gatling, and the ability to interpret results and drive action.
- Solid Kubernetes and Docker fundamentals.
- Advanced understanding of CI/CD and how to keep large test suites fast, deterministic, and trustworthy at scale.
- A track record of measurably improving testing culture on an engineering team.
- Interest in foundational infrastructure and comfort working independently on ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges.
