Base Salary
$165k - $330k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own Baseten's end-to-end testing strategy, standards, tiers, and tooling.
- Build and maintain unit, integration, load, performance, resilience, and chaos-testing frameworks.
- Design test infrastructure that provisions realistic dependencies through ephemeral Kubernetes namespaces and containerized services.
- Develop fault injection, network simulation, failure-scenario, and automated recovery-verification capabilities.
- Improve test-suite reliability through flake management, test impact analysis, selective execution, parallelization, and reduced CI wall time.
- Build coverage reporting, test-health dashboards, failure-triage tooling, and signals for under-tested code.
- Create project templates and shared libraries that provide new services with complete testing setups.
- Partner with product and infrastructure teams to turn one-off testing solutions into platform capabilities.
- Mentor engineers and raise testing standards through code review, documentation, and internal advocacy.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Go and/or Python, with hands-on experience building test tooling and libraries used by other engineers.
- Deep experience with testing frameworks and their internals, including pytest, Go's testing package, testify, testcontainers, or equivalents.
- Experience designing integration-test infrastructure for distributed systems, including ephemeral environment provisioning and dependency management.
- Practical experience with load and performance-testing tools such as k6, Locust, Vegeta, JMeter, or Gatling, and the ability to interpret results and drive action.
- Solid Kubernetes and Docker fundamentals, including building test infrastructure for real cluster environments.
- Advanced understanding of CI/CD and keeping large test suites fast, deterministic, and trustworthy at scale.
- A track record of measurably improving testing culture on an engineering team.
- Interest in foundational infrastructure and comfort working independently on ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges.
