Responsibilities
- Ship and refine production code across the transaction routing and processing stack.
- Lead initiatives to improve platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Shape system design, data model changes, failure and degradation strategies, and blast-radius containment.
- Work on complex, mission-critical codebases and raise engineering standards.
- Mentor engineers and guide technical direction at the Staff level.
- Write system designs, defend them in reviews, and operate systems in production.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of engineering experience.
- Expert-level Java skills with strong fundamentals in concurrency, performance, and reliable systems at scale.
- Experience designing and operating systems in production.
- Experience in regulated, cloud-native, high-availability environments.
- Experience with payment processing, card issuing, or network integration such as JPOS or ISO 8583.
- Preferred experience with cryptography or key management, including HSM, AWS Payment Cryptography, or KMS.
- Preferred experience operating multi-region systems with tested failover.
- Preferred hands-on experience with Kubernetes and AWS.
