Responsibilities
- Design and develop core functionality for distributed database systems.
- Create architectures and designs that address complex scalability problems.
- Generate improvements to system robustness and performance.
- Implement comprehensive functional and system tests for assigned areas and overall database quality.
- Debug issues, perform root cause analysis, and diagnose defects.
- Participate actively in release and deployment processes.
- Own architecture, design, implementation, monitoring, testing, deployment, and customer support for large-scale systems.
Requirements
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of experience in systems or database internals programming.
- 6+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Deep expertise in distributed computing, including system architecture, communication, distributed consensus, and transactional protocols.
- Strong understanding of low-level operating-system concepts, multithreading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.
- Strong Java or C programming skills.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
- MS or PhD in databases or distributed systems is preferred.
