$114k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex iOS applications and shared platform components, including SDKs, libraries, and tooling.
- Define iOS architecture standards using Swift, SwiftUI, Combine/async-await, modern architectural patterns, and modularization.
- Own large initiatives from concept through production, including technical strategy, build optimization, observability, release management, and environment configuration.
- Lead discovery and high-level technical design for medium to large projects in collaboration with product managers, architects, and stakeholders.
- Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability; troubleshoot business and production issues and champion crash analytics and performance monitoring.
- Lead the migration of the consumer mobile application from React Native to fully native iOS, including migration sequencing, bridging, replacement patterns, feature parity, and app stability.
- Integrate on-device and cloud-powered AI/ML capabilities into iOS applications while addressing privacy, security, and performance.
- Partner with backend and Platform Engineering teams on mobile APIs, offline-first solutions, configurations, releases, and controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of professional iOS engineering experience, including significant experience leading architecture and technical direction for production consumer applications.
- Expert-level proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, and modern iOS development architecture.
- Working knowledge of React Native sufficient to assess existing code, plan a native migration, and bridge React Native with native modules.
- Experience leading the full development lifecycle, including architecture, coding, testing, CI/CD, release management, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Experience partnering with backend teams on efficient mobile APIs and offline-first solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead discovery and high-level design for technical initiatives.
- Experience championing automated testing, code quality, and secure mobile development practices at an organizational level.
- Strong collaboration and technical leadership skills across globally distributed engineering teams.
- Preferred qualifications include React Native-to-native migration experience, consumer or digital health experience, AI/ML integration experience such as Core ML, GraphQL experience, Bluetooth Low Energy familiarity, and experience maintaining shared iOS platform components.
