Base Salary
$240k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and drive the evolution of Together’s API platform.
- Own and improve the backend API layer within the primary Next.js monolith.
- Architect and lead the transition toward scalable, purpose-built API platforms.
- Write and maintain critical-path platform code for multiple services.
- Design and implement robust authentication and authorization systems.
- Establish performance standards for high-throughput APIs.
- Raise the bar on API observability and reliability.
- Drive API data modeling and schema generation strategies.
- Partner with infrastructure and security teams to maintain security posture.
- Mentor engineers and influence architectural direction across teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, distributed backend systems.
- Proven experience building or evolving an API platform for multiple teams.
- Expert-level proficiency in Golang, TypeScript, C++, or Java.
- Deep expertise in API performance and scalability.
- Strong experience designing production-grade authentication and authorization systems.
- Ability to drive cross-team architectural initiatives without formal authority.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and modern CI/CD workflows.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
