Responsibilities

  • Design and develop business logic, APIs, and batch processing.
  • Design and develop business flows and business screens.
  • Maintain and operate systems supporting Rakuten Cash.
  • Lead the engineer organization and promote team improvement activities.
  • Coordinate with Rakuten platforms and infrastructure-related application teams.
  • Formulate technical guidelines, conduct technical reviews, and train next-generation engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Java implementation experience.
  • More than 5 years of experience designing and implementing open systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with databases and system infrastructure.
  • Business-level English or English sufficient to read technical materials and respond to emails and chats.
  • Preferred qualifications include mission-critical or consumer-service development and operations, large-scale system experience, curiosity about new services and technologies, payment and points knowledge, and microservice architecture experience.
  • Conversational Japanese is preferred.
