Responsibilities
- Lead modelling, simulation, and uncertainty quantification activities across fusion research programmes.
- Develop and evaluate numerical methods and algorithms for scientific and engineering applications.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain advanced scientific software.
- Deploy and assess emerging computing architectures and accelerator technologies.
- Design and support digital twin capabilities for fusion systems.
- Publish research and present findings at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to research funding proposals and identify future programme opportunities.
- Build international collaborations across multi-partner research projects.
- Oversee the technical delivery of small project teams and provide specialist technical guidance.
Requirements
- Doctorate in a computational, mathematical, or physical science discipline with a strong publication record or significant software-library contributions, or equivalent commercial or research experience.
- Experience leading technical projects or teams in a research or engineering environment.
- Significant software development experience using at least one compiled language or advanced scripting language, evidenced through software-package contributions.
- Strong mathematical foundations, particularly in numerical analysis.
- Significant experience using high-performance computing systems and developing computational engineering software.
- Proficiency with UNIX operating systems, especially command-line environments.
