Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate foundational cloud infrastructure and services at scale, preferably on GCP.
- Deploy and operate edge compute functions and determine when logic should run at the edge versus further back in the stack.
- Version, test, and automate infrastructure deployments rather than relying on manual console operations.
- Identify and address database performance bottlenecks and scaling issues before they cause outages.
- Design reliable, retryable asynchronous pipelines using workflow orchestration or job queue systems.
- Build observable systems with structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics dashboards, and alerting.
- Write and maintain production-quality code with a software engineering mindset.
Requirements
- Experience working in a high-velocity software development organization.
- Experience designing, building, and operating cloud services at scale.
- Understanding of edge computing tradeoffs and experience operating edge compute functions.
- Solid understanding of database performance and scaling patterns, including hands-on bottleneck identification and remediation.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools or job queue systems such as Prefect, Airflow, Temporal, Inngest, or similar.
- Comfort writing production-quality Python code.
- Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.
