Base Salary
$115k - $135k/yr
Responsibilities
- Administer and support production environments and engineer reliability into observability and monitoring services.
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable monitoring solutions for Nomura’s global infrastructure.
- Manage alerts, incidents, problems, requests, changes, releases, on-call support, and root-cause analysis.
- Respond to production alerts quickly, minimize downtime, and prevent recurrence of incidents.
- Support adoption of the telemetry, observability, and monitoring platform across Nomura companies.
- Engage with users and engineering teams to resolve platform queries and improve customer experience.
- Contribute to architecture and strategy for the future direction of the observability platform.
- Collaborate in a global agile team and participate in planning, reviews, and continuous improvement.
- Promote observability best practices and help improve system reliability, performance, and resilience.
- Use AI tools such as Claude and Copilot with appropriate guardrails to improve operational processes.
- Mentor and guide other SREs and share knowledge across the team.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience administering Grafana or another modern observability tool in a medium- or large-scale enterprise.
- At least 2 years of experience with Linux operating systems, troubleshooting, and day-to-day commands.
- Exposure to Python or Ansible.
- Experience with production support, including request, incident, problem, change, release, and on-call management.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms and CI/CD tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible, and Nexus.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with mature judgment.
- Understanding of OpenTelemetry standards is preferred.
- Understanding of Kubernetes, EKS, Docker, and medium- or large-scale production environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of ITIL, Sybase, MySQL, MSSQL, relational database concepts, and SQL is preferred.
- Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, middleware, web servers, load balancers, and directory services is preferred.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams is preferred.
Benefits
- Base salary range of $115,000-$135,000 per year, plus potential sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, discretionary awards, medical and financial benefits, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off.
