Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain relational SQL databases consolidating financial and operational data.
- Lead the consolidation of reporting functions under the Fiscal Operations and Analysis unit.
- Develop a front-end application, preferably using Microsoft PowerApps, for purchase order submission, approval routing, document review, and procurement tracking.
- Evaluate alternative application platforms where appropriate.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data from multiple source systems.
- Document data definitions, system architecture, and standard operating procedures.
- Train and mentor Financial Reporting Analysts and reporting staff on database maintenance and related technical skills.
- Collaborate with IT staff and business users to troubleshoot issues and improve system functionality.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with agency and City data standards.
Requirements
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field is required under the stated City Research Scientist qualification framework.
- For higher assignment levels, qualifying alternatives include a doctorate with one year of responsible experience, a master's degree with three years of responsible research experience, or equivalent education and experience.
- Candidates for the higher assignment levels must have at least a master's degree and at least two years of the specified experience.
- Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I may substitute for the experience required for higher assignment levels.
