Base Salary

$123k - $139k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define software requirements and approaches for embedded flight software systems.
  • Design, develop, debug, release, maintain, and document real-time embedded flight software.
  • Develop application software for spacecraft functional domains such as command and data handling, guidance/navigation/control, and system fault protection.
  • Conduct peer reviews, unit testing, integration testing with simulations and avionics hardware, formal testing, and defect resolution.
  • Support software delivery to JPL flight mission customers and work with changing hardware interface specifications.
  • Perform lab debugging and hardware-in-the-loop testing for spacecraft software and hardware interfaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with at least 3 years of related experience, a related master’s degree with at least 1 year of experience, or a related PhD with 0 years of required experience.
  • Advanced understanding and hands-on experience developing mission-critical real-time embedded software for aerospace applications.
  • Experience with distributed computing, inter-process communication, device drivers, software/hardware interfaces, and communication buses and protocols.
  • Experience with C++, C, Python, Linux, real-time or embedded operating systems, and static code analysis toolsets.
  • Ability to develop reliable embedded real-time applications using formal and structured software lifecycle processes.
  • Preferred qualifications include NASA or laboratory process knowledge, software product-line experience, systems engineering, NASA F Prime or cFS, and hardware-in-the-loop lab debugging with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
