Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of secure, resilient, production-grade applications.
- Remain hands-on across frontend, backend, APIs, data, integration, cloud, and deployment.
- Build AI-enabled applications and agentic workflows connecting models, tools, data, and enterprise systems.
- Design agent orchestration, retrieval, context, state, memory, permissions, and human-oversight mechanisms.
- Establish approaches to AI evaluation, security, reliability, observability, and cost management.
- Solve complex architecture, performance, scalability, and production-operations problems.
- Make pragmatic technical decisions and clearly communicate trade-offs.
- Lead teams through ambiguity and complex delivery challenges.
- Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards through practical technical leadership.
- Work with clients, architects, product teams, and delivery leaders as a trusted technical adviser.
Requirements
- Exceptional, recent hands-on software engineering experience and a record of personally delivering complex production-grade systems.
- Strong system-design and architecture capability supported by the ability to implement and validate technical decisions.
- Broad experience across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, automated testing, CI/CD, containers, and cloud platforms.
- Experience diagnosing issues across application, infrastructure, and runtime boundaries.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar tools and platforms quickly and exercise sound judgment across security, performance, reliability, maintainability, observability, and cost.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineers while remaining technically credible.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Experience in government, regulated, or complex enterprise environments.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain SC security clearance.
- Practical experience deploying AI beyond demonstrations into secure, supportable production environments.
- Experience building applications with large language models or other modern AI models, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, grounding, context management, evaluation, and AI security controls.
- Experience with hosted, private, open-weight, sovereign, or disconnected AI deployment patterns and rigorous validation of AI-assisted engineering output.
