Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain client-side features for CNN’s Roku streaming application.
- Contribute to the technical strategy, architecture, and engineering best practices for Connected TV experiences.
- Build scalable and reliable solutions for CNN’s streaming platform.
- Help guide development tools, technologies, test automation, and CI/CD practices.
- Write technical documentation, conduct code reviews, and troubleshoot complex software issues.
- Support testing, deployment, and release of production-quality Roku applications.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Delivery leaders to translate product initiatives into technical solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience developing and releasing software products and services.
- Proficiency in client-side scripting languages such as JavaScript or Python.
- Essential experience with BrightScript and SceneGraph.
- Expertise with Git and GitHub and familiarity with CI/CD pipeline technologies.
- Experience developing for Roku, FireTV, or similar streaming platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of coding best practices, unit testing, and technical documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
