Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and technical direction of Android applications and shared mobile capabilities.
- Design, implement, and operate robust Android features and services throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Establish and improve standards for code review, testing, observability, release safety, performance, reliability, and security.
- Lead technical discussions, resolve architectural tradeoffs, and guide execution in ambiguous environments.
- Use AI-assisted tools for coding, refactoring, documentation, test generation, and debugging while validating output quality and security.
- Support or prototype iOS, PC, and Web solutions using cross-platform engineering judgment and AI assistance.
- Improve automated unit, integration, UI, regression, and production validation coverage.
- Partner with product, design, backend, data, and platform stakeholders to turn customer and business needs into technical solutions.
- Investigate production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
- Communicate technical designs, risks, progress, and decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers and influence technical direction and engineering practices across teams.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience building and operating production Android applications.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and the Android SDK, including Android architecture, lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Experience designing maintainable Android architectures involving modularization, dependency management, state management, and separation of concerns.
- Experience owning software quality, testing strategy, code review, CI/CD, observability, release management, and production issue resolution.
- Experience delivering complex software systems from design through launch and operation.
- Experience influencing technical direction and engineering practices across one or more teams.
- Ability to mentor engineers, communicate effectively, and provide technical leadership without relying solely on organizational authority.
- Experience independently owning medium-to-large initiatives and influencing architecture and execution without direct reporting authority.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted programming tools to improve productivity, code quality, testing, or debugging, with the ability to validate generated output.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Written and verbal English communication skills are required.
- Preferred experience with large-scale consumer-facing mobile applications, performance, reliability, experimentation, and rapid release cycles.
- Preferred experience with mobile observability, crash and ANR analysis, performance profiling, feature flags, experimentation, and staged rollouts.
- Preferred knowledge of iOS, Swift, Web, PC, or shared cross-platform development.
- Preferred experience integrating mobile applications with distributed backend services, analytics, and personalization or marketing platforms.
- Preferred familiarity with AI coding agents, code-generation workflows, prompt design, automated code review, and secure AI-assisted software development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous, and agile environments.
