Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain internal web applications for browsing, querying, and analyzing aircraft flight data.
  • Develop Python backend services and HTTP APIs that query Athena and S3, including pagination and caching for large result sets.
  • Build frontend interfaces with sortable tables, filters, and time-series visualizations for large telemetry datasets.
  • Create AI-assisted, agent-based diagnostic tools that provide verifiable data and derivation details.
  • Convert recurring analyses for firmware, GNC, battery, and maintenance teams into supported self-service tools.
  • Generate and maintain a machine-readable data catalog and internal field guide from the data warehouse.
  • Build fleet-health alert review and triage interfaces with acknowledgment, history, and trend views.
  • Package and distribute analysis tools for engineers’ laptops, including Windows environments.
  • Own deployment, testing, code review, CI/CD, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering teams to understand needs and scope tools from conversational requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience building and shipping web applications across backend and frontend systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and comfort writing SQL against a real database.
  • Experience with a modern JavaScript or TypeScript frontend framework such as React or Vue.
  • Experience building and consuming HTTP APIs, including authentication, pagination, and error handling.
  • Comfort with Git-based workflows, code review, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to work directly with non-software engineers to understand needs and deliver tools.
  • Preferred: AWS experience, particularly S3, Athena, Lambda, or API Gateway.
  • Preferred: experience with large or time-series datasets, responsive interfaces over millions of rows, charting or visualization libraries, and Grafana.
  • Preferred: Docker, Terraform, LLM APIs, agent frameworks, structured-data retrieval, and output evaluation.
  • Preferred or relevant familiarity with aerospace, automotive, robotics telemetry, flight or vehicle test data, desktop or command-line packaging, Windows, SSO, IAM, access control, regulated environments, and conversational interfaces.
