Base Salary
$110k - $151k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement primarily C and C++ firmware for real-time operation and control.
- Validate firmware through software simulations, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and prototype bench testing.
- Build and maintain Bitbucket Pipelines CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, static analysis, unit testing, and artifact generation.
- Integrate, debug, and tune embedded firmware on inverter prototypes during hardware bring-up.
- Optimize product solutions through firmware and hardware control co-design.
- Define firmware requirements, interfaces, and integration strategies with cross-functional teams.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Occasionally travel domestically.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 8 years of similar non-academic experience with a BS, 6 years with an MS, or 3 years with a PhD.
- Expert-level C and C++ proficiency, including memory management, linker scripts, bootloader development, and secure boot concepts.
- Strong debugging and systems analysis skills involving stack overflows, memory corruption, hard faults, CPU utilization, task priorities, and system lockups.
- Expertise in bare-metal and real-time operating systems, multithreaded programming, and multi-core firmware development.
- Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M4/M7 architecture and microcontroller peripherals including ADC, GPIO, PWM, SPI, and CAN.
- Understanding of digital signal processing and implementing DSP concepts in firmware.
- Experience using J-Link debug probes, SWD, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers to test and debug code and hardware.
- Proficiency with GCC, GNU Make, CMake, Python-based build and automation scripts, Docker, and Git.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and LLM-integrated coding environments such as Devin or Copilot.
- Preferred experience with Zephyr, control loops, PID controllers, desktop or embedded Linux, AC grid simulators, and programmable loads.
- Ability to own development tasks and drive them to completion with high quality.
