Responsibilities
- Develop a resilient, scalable cloud-native monitoring stack that provides telemetry, monitoring, and insights across applications and infrastructure.
- Write, test, document, debug, and review high-quality software code.
- Integrate monitoring across Kubernetes, OpenStack, bare-metal systems, virtual machines, containers, and Juju-operated environments.
- Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team and open-source communities.
- Represent Canonical and the Charmed Observability Stack at conferences.
- Work remotely with 2–4 weeks of global travel for internal and external events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Proven track record in Python development and working knowledge of Go.
- Strong knowledge of observability and monitoring technologies, including Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana, Loki, and Mimir.
- Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, and using Kubernetes.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools.
- Experience contributing to open-source codebases and driving consensus among multiple stakeholders.
- Interest in and experience with at least two of Ubuntu Linux, container images, Debian packaging, snap, and distributed systems.
- Passion for observability, open-source software, Linux, Kubernetes, and technology.
