Responsibilities
- Build and refine systems for compiling, testing, packaging, and validating engineering changes.
- Contribute to shared libraries, frameworks, build patterns, and service-development practices.
- Improve CI feedback loops for speed, reliability, quality, and release confidence.
- Develop tools, documentation, automation, and platform improvements that address recurring developer pain points.
- Use Cursor, Claude, and agent-based workflows to accelerate platform work and automate repetitive engineering tasks safely.
- Partner with service teams to understand needs, support adoption, and improve the developer platform’s paved path.
- Independently own moderate-complexity projects and contribute directly to the Bazel build platform and shared Scala libraries.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in Scala, Java, Kotlin, or another production language, with the ability to work in a large shared codebase.
- Experience with build systems, dependency management, CI, or test infrastructure; familiarity with Bazel, SBT, Maven, Gradle, GitHub Actions, or similar systems is valuable.
- Ability to debug complex build, test, and developer-workflow failures and convert recurring issues into fixes, tooling, documentation, or automation.
- Product-minded approach to developer experience, including attention to usability, feedback loops, adoption, and engineering effectiveness.
- Experience using AI tools such as Cursor, Claude, or similar systems for codebase exploration, migration support, test generation, CI triage, or agent orchestration.
- Ability to plan, prompt, verify, and review AI-assisted automation with appropriate human oversight and safety guardrails.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with service teams, explain trade-offs, inform stakeholders, and work through ambiguous technical areas.
