Responsibilities
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle for software used to integrate and test complex customer-deliverable hardware.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define, document, and refine software requirements and designs.
- Design, implement, review, integrate, and test software using C++, C, XML, and Python on Windows and Linux platforms.
- Support hardware integration and testing through troubleshooting, defect resolution, performance improvement, and technical problem-solving.
- Apply software engineering practices and DevOps processes to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.
- Use automation, software reuse, and emerging AI-enabled development tools to improve productivity, quality, and software reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field plus at least 6 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a graduate degree plus at least 4 years of relevant experience, or at least 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- At least 1 year of experience with one or more programming languages such as C++ or Python.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Preferred experience with Atlassian tools including JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket, or similar configuration management and defect-tracking tools.
- Preferred experience with DevOps virtualization and automation tools such as Docker, Jenkins, CMake, Git, Bitbucket, and Artifactory.
- Preferred experience with object-oriented software architecture and design, databases, hardware interfaces, space hardware testing, software integration, and troubleshooting.
- Preferred experience using AI-assisted and agentic development tools such as GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, or Claude Code.
- Preferred knowledge of UML diagrams and familiarity with software development lifecycle practices and Agile/Scrum practices.
