Base Salary
$200k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build across the React Native app for iOS, Android, and web, as well as Node.js/TypeScript and Go backend services.
- Design foundational systems and make critical technical decisions while owning complex problems from conception through delivery.
- Set standards for system architecture, code reviews, code quality, and shipping velocity.
- Mentor a squad of 2–4 engineers and raise the team’s technical capabilities through guidance and rigorous reviews.
- Deliver major, high-polish product features used by millions of people.
- Contribute to the open-source AT Protocol and the broader Bluesky ecosystem.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience building consumer-scale products, including experience using AI coding tools to increase team leverage.
- Deep experience with TypeScript, React, and React Native across iOS, Android, and web.
- Experience making major technical decisions and owning complex technical areas end-to-end.
- Daily experience with agentic coding tools and informed opinions about their strengths and limitations.
- Strong technical leadership, mentorship, system design, and product intuition, with attention to UI/UX details and social app mechanics.
- Preferred: startup or social media experience, founder or early-team experience, distributed or federated systems, real-time feeds, content delivery at scale, AT Protocol familiarity, production Go, and PostgreSQL or Scylla/Cassandra experience.

- Base salary range of $200,000 to $270,000, excluding equity; equity is considered separately in the total compensation package.
