Responsibilities
- Lead AI initiatives from problem definition through production in partnership with engineers, team leads, and business stakeholders.
- Design architectures for agentic workflows, retrieval, tool use, orchestration, state management, and external integrations.
- Define reusable reference architectures, engineering standards, patterns, playbooks, templates, shared libraries, and documentation.
- Establish evaluation datasets, regression tracking, quality metrics, acceptance criteria, and telemetry for AI systems.
- Lead reliability, scalability, resilience, observability, incident learning, and cost-control practices for AI services.
- Design permissions, guardrails, audit trails, and human-in-the-loop controls for agents operating on internal systems.
- Mentor engineers and technical leads, influence without authority, and communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience operating at senior or Staff-level scope.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience building and operating LLM-based systems, ideally in production.
- Experience designing agentic or multi-step AI systems involving tool use, orchestration, state, retrieval, or external integrations.
- Strong foundations in distributed systems, synchronous and asynchronous communication, and software architecture.
- Solid knowledge of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and experience running services securely and cost-consciously.
- Experience with observability, testing, and evaluation of complex systems.
- Track record of technically leading multi-team initiatives from design through production and defining engineering standards adopted by teams.
- Preferred experience includes LangChain, LangGraph, the Claude Agent SDK, MCP, Kubernetes, containerized execution environments, LLM gateways, model routing, cost management, machine learning or applied research, and regulated payments or financial services environments.
